About the Role
Our Client a UK manufacturer and supplier of professional beauty and cosmetics products. They develop and manufacture our own brands and provide OEM and private-label products for customers in the UK and international markets. The operation covers product development, manufacturing, purchasing, quality, warehousing, e-commerce, wholesale, distribution, and export.
The Opportunity
We are seeking a commercially aware, data-led Product Buyer & Supply Chain Merchandiser to join their team. This role is ideal for someone who can turn sales, stock, production, and supplier information into timely buying decisions. You will be responsible for purchasing, demand planning, stock merchandising, supplier management, and import/export administration.
Key Responsibilities:- Data-led Buying & Demand Planning
- Analyse sales, stock, production, and supplier data to forecast demand and place timely orders.
- Maintain rolling demand forecasts and purchase plans.
- Manage purchase orders from creation to receipt and invoice reconciliation.
- Identify shortages, late orders, excess stock, and obsolescence early, providing clear action options.
- Product & Stock Merchandising
- Analyse SKU-level performance across sales channels.
- Recommend launch quantities, replenishment, and clearance activity.
- Maintain accurate product and logistics data.
- Supplier & Commercial Management
- Source products and services in line with specifications and budgets.
- Negotiate prices, lead times, and terms with suppliers.
- Manage supplier relationships and delivery performance.
- Import, Export & Freight Administration
- Prepare and check shipment documentation.
- Coordinate collections, deliveries, and customs requirements.
- Resolve document queries and delivery delays.
- Manufacturing & Stock Control
- Align purchasing with production schedules and customer demand.
- Investigate stock variances and support corrective actions.
- Systems, Reporting & Cross-functional Delivery
- Maintain accurate ERP/MRP data.
- Build forecasts and purchasing reports using Excel and reporting tools.
- Support new product and packaging projects.
Candidate Profile
Essential:- Proven experience in buying, purchasing, demand planning, merchandising, or supply chain roles.
- Experience managing suppliers and purchase orders end-to-end.
- Strong Excel skills (pivot tables, XLOOKUP, SUMIFS, data analysis).
- Practical ERP/MRP system experience.
- Hands-on experience with import/export paperwork and logistics.
- Commercial, organised, detail-focused, and proactive working style.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Experience in cosmetics, beauty, FMCG, or light manufacturing.
- Exposure to own-brand, OEM, or private-label products.
- Multi-channel e-commerce or international customer demand.
- Knowledge of UK/EU and third-country shipments.
- Power BI or other reporting tools, CIPS or Institute of Export & International Trade study.
