Exchange People are recruiting for a detail-oriented Quality Control & Testing Laboratory Technician to join our client’s Quality and Testing Department in Knowsley.
In this hands-on role, you will carry out physical, electrical and optical testing on raw materials, work-in-progress and finished products, helping to ensure all products meet international standards, industry specifications and customer requirements.
The Role
As a Laboratory Technician, you will support quality assurance activity across the site by testing materials and products, recording accurate data, maintaining laboratory equipment and assisting with prototype and customer-specific testing requirements.
Key Responsibilities- Product testing: Carry out physical and electrical tests including tensile strength, elongation, cold bend, flammability and voltage resistance.
- Quality assurance: Inspect incoming raw materials, work-in-progress and finished products to confirm they meet required standards.
- Prototype support: Assemble mock-ups and test fixtures using engineering drawings and customer requirements.
- Documentation: Record, analyse and report test results in line with quality procedures and standards such as AS9100.
- Equipment maintenance: Calibrate, clean and troubleshoot testing equipment to help ensure accurate measurements and reliable results.
- A diploma, associate degree or bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, electronics, chemistry, materials science or a related subject.
- Knowledge of cable construction, including coaxial, fibre optic and structured cabling.
- Good understanding of electrical principles and measurement systems.
- Experience using testing equipment such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, tensile testers or cable certifiers.
- Awareness of manufacturing and laboratory standards such as ISO, IPC, UL or Good Laboratory Practice.
- Accurate record keeping and a practical, hands-on approach to problem solving.
