Description

Mechanical Design Engineer - Cumbernauld - 50k +

Our client is seeking an experienced mechanical design engineer with a strong background in engineering, specifically in the areas of automation or machine design.

In this role, you will be responsible for developing innovative ideas to enhance existing equipment and finding new solutions for final processing in the foundry.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Generate and refine new project concepts, taking them from initial conception to successful completion.
  • Perform engineering calculations to analyse stress and deflection of structures, power and torque requirements for drivetrains, and the inertia of machinery and mechanisms.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in understanding tolerances and selecting appropriate materials for designs.
  • Create designs, drawings, and equipment that adhere to British and European Standards.
  • Extensive experience on Solidworks, leveraging your expertise with the software.

Experience:

  • Proven experience in designing machine tools or metal-cutting machinery, with a particular focus on grinding or milling machines.
  • Familiarity with pneumatic and hydraulic systems is advantageous.
  • Prior experience in robotics is a plus.

Additional Details:

  • Annual leave entitlement of 32 days, which includes statutory days, with an additional day added for each year of service (up to a maximum of 5 additional days).
  • Competitive salary starting from 50,000+ commensurate with experience.
  • Flexible working hours with a 37.5-hour workweek.
  • Early finish at 13:00 on Fridays, provided that the 37.5-hour weekly requirement is met.
